🤨 FAQs
Q: How does the KVM-Console Ext. Board work?
A: It captures HDMI output from a target device and routes it to the uConsole’s screen while using the uConsole’s keyboard and trackball to control the device via USB HID. You can read more about What is USB KVM.
Q: Will it work with my uConsole?
A: The board is compatible with uConsole models using Raspberry Pi CM4, CM5, or RISC-V cores. Ensure your firmware is updated to version 1.2 or later.
Q: Can I use this with the 4G/LTE module?
A: No, the KVM-Console Ext. Board replaces the 4G/LTE module in the uConsole’s extension slot. It’s designed for users who prioritize KVM functionality over cellular connectivity.
Q: Is the software open-source?
A: Yes! Our Openterface Connect Apps are fully open-source and available on our GitHub repository.

The HDMI only displays in a box on the UConsole. There is no menu to change app settings. No mouse control on either Windows or Linux Host. Text is upside down on the port cover.
Thanks for reporting this and sorry for the trouble you’re experiencing. We’ll make sure to get this sorted.
Regarding the text on the port cover: the orientation was designed so that when you hold the uConsole and look down at the ports from the top, the text is readable. It may appear upside down depending on the viewing angle, but this was intentional to make port identification easier.
For the mouse control issue, could you please share:
Which Linux distribution you’re using on your uConsole?
Is it running on the CM4 module?
This will help us diagnose the problem accurately.
